Our 6 favorite ways to connect with ourselves, our partner and our planet.

1. Walking in Nature

A healthy lifestyle take’s time to walk and connect with yourself, with your partner and the world.

We love walking the beach in San Clemente, CA. We walk barefoot and close to the water’s edge, feeling the ions in the air.  When we lived in France, we had a beautiful forest nearby leading to rivers, lakes and mountains.

We love exploring Nature during every season and picking wild strawberries, blackberries, chestnuts, flowers, sea glass, and mushrooms.

There are many benefits to walking too.

It’s cardio exercise, so it’s good for the heart and helps release endorphins.  It feels good for our physical bodies. Going barefoot on the beach or collecting nature’s produce allows us to connect our energy with the Earth. This is called grounding. You feel yourself getting connected to the beauty of creation all around us and that we are a part of.   Walking is a way to enter into a meditative state that helps us access the power of our mind. Once in that state we can focus on ourselves, on our couple, or on the planet itself. We can use this state to tap into our own innate resources and intelligence to create ways of living in Harmony with Life. Often, ideas come into our minds from that sense of connection with Source and the power of Creation.  These ideas have helped to shape our business and family life for many years.

Extra:  Do something extra special by grabbing a plastic bag and collect trash along the way. Let’s leave our planet cleaner than we found it.

2. Travel

Plan a trip to discover the world, yourself and your partner.

There is a saying that goes “Couples that travel together, stay together”. Traveling together adds fire to your relationship, be it a long-distance trip or a short weekend getaway, with new and exciting events and experiences. A trip is a great way to break the routine and reduce the workload. It also relieves stress and can be just the thing to spark romance and affection. Traveling is revealing. It is a great way to get to know yourself, your couple and the world around you. You get to step outside of your normal self and allow you, and your couple, to experience the world and yourselves in new ways.

One of our favorite trips took us to Bocas Del Toro, Panama. This area of Panama is a collection of smaller islands. While there we visited a sustainable, organic, chocolate farm. The land was a bit hilly and had a beautiful view of the Caribbean Ocean and bay. A young surfer and his wife developed this farm over the last 20 years. They transformed the land creating a natural ecosystem to feed themselves and their guests. They have many local plants (bananas, pineapples, mangos, etc.) as well as their cocoa plants for the chocolate that they make.  A little coffee shop welcomes the guests on the farm. This is where the owners can sell their chocolate and extra food stuffs to make money to purchase the things they need from society. After the farm tour, the coffee shop provides samples to their guests.  It is always inspiring to see, and be in the presence of, others able to achieve living 2 in harmony.

Extra: Participate in a mission while you travel or seek out a local sustainable farm like the one we visited. The easiest thing can be to donate pencils and notebooks to a classroom in developing areas. But many local organizations can use your help to build lodging, a water well, or you can focus on helping nature itself. Emma’s dream is to go help baby turtles reach the ocean once they have hatched.

3. Dance

Look for a dance class to help you connect with yourself, your partner and the world.

Throughout time, people have used dance and movement as a way to develop a deeper connection with nature and themselves. Dance puts you in a meditative state that is very beneficial to finding and creating harmony in your life.

Dance is an activity that most everybody enjoys, in one way or another. Luckily, dancing is something that will not only bring a smile to your face but can also help improve your physical and mental health. It is great exercise that gets your mind and muscles working no matter who you are. It’s a super way for some self-expression and for couples to spend quality time together and building a bond of working together. When we can redirect our consciousness inward, like during dancing, we’ll discover the two things we so desperately seek: love and contentment.

Extra: Dance sober and use the dance to connect yourself to the universe. Have the intention to connect with the energy of the earth and feel that energy coming through your sacral chakra.
